Priority Holdings Optimizes Environmental Reliability with Remote Tank Level Monitoring

Priority Holdings, LLC

Priority Holdings, is an independent oil and gas operator based in southern Oklahoma. The one-man operation has been improving oil field efficiencies for over 4 years. Priority Holdings is dedicated to maintaining environmental excellence while optimizing efficiency.

Applications: Produced Water

Market: Oil Field Support

Challenge
Reducing field operation expenses while preserving a field operation that is both environmentally responsible and safe presented a challenge for Priority Holdings. Like most oil field companies, Priority Holdings monitored tank levels locally by making routine trips to the site and climbing a ladder to visually check the tank level. Reducing needless travel, enhancing operational reliability, and understanding what goes on at the location when no one is there are the main issues.

Physically traveling to the remote sites can take more than an hour for each location. As a one-man operation, time is the most valuable attribute for easy operation. With winter and cold weather conditions that can leave risks of travel during each trip. If the operator is rushed, the system checks may be missed or overlooked.

“As a one-man operation, it’s a hassle to routinely check the produced water tank level, but it would harm the environment if it overflows”, said Charles, Owner and Operations Manager.

Solution
In February 2023, Priority Holdings installed the TankScan TSR1000 tank monitoring system at a produced water tank near Duncan Oklahoma. The remote monitoring system leverages existing wireless cellular infrastructure and a cloud software application to eliminate large startup and setup costs associated with typical SCADA systems. The installation requires screwing the monitor into a 2” port on the top of the tank and plugging in the battery. The cloud application is set up remotely and offers unlimited users, historical trending, and email/text notifications.

The tank levels are viewed from the field operator’s cell phone or from a PC at a remote office. The system is cost-effective because it uses existing infrastructures through internet connectivity, internet browsers, email, text messages, and cloud computing. The user is provided with accurate readings to devices he already owns, understands, and supports.

Results
Priority Holdings has seen numerous benefits from remote level monitoring including:
• Reduced labor and overhead associated with trips to the field locations
• Improved reliability of their field operations with remote tank level visibility
• Improved confidence and reduced environmental risk with automated notifications
• Improved safety by reducing travel in hazardous weather conditions

“TankScan gives me the piece of mind so I can sleep at night, knowing I will be alerted if the produced water tank is about to overflow”, said Charles, Owner and Operations Manager.
